Benefits of Geothermal Energy

Dave-Leaonard-evergreen-geo-gpcog-annual-report

Geothermal is reliable, convenient and extremely comfortable

You don't have to buy oil or propane, or pellets or wood. Geothermal is electric.

You enjoy cleaner, safer and less costly heating and cooling. Geothermal systems are as reliable and effective as any other heating or cooling system, and are easier and less expensive to maintain. They are thermostatically controlled and run automatically. There is no wood to carry, or bags of pellets to haul, no oil delivery or oil or gas burner to clean and maintain. In fact, you are burning nothing.

You avoid the fluctuations of the oil and gas market. Geothermal runs on grid supplied or solar electricity, a much stabler market.

You reduce your carbon footprint by three quarters, and even more when solar powered!

HOW IT WORKS

Geothermal Systems use electrical energy very efficiently, by moving the sun's stored heat from a well in the ground into your home, using a Ground Source Heat Pump.

Geothermal heat pumps use the “Endless Energy” from the earth to heat your house, by pumping it out of a well drilled in your yard, concentrating it to a warmer temperature, and moving it inside your house. It works very much like the refrigerator in your kitchen, which is actually very similar to a Geothermal heat pump. A heat pump is run by electricity, which it can use at efficiencies as high as 400% to 500%. It is economical and responsible to heat and cool this way.

Our systems retrieve 4 times as much heat energy from the ground as they use in electrical energy to run.

IT IS ABOUT FINANCIAL SECURITY

Geothermal heat costs less than ½ of what heating with oil or propane does, on average about 65 - 70% less.

If you are spending $3500 on oil, we can heat your home for an electric bill of about $1100.

This is a $2400 annual savings! Every year! Sounds too good to be true, but contact us and we will supply references. $2400 a year adds up fast. What other investment will give you a return forever, regardless of financial markets?

Electricity is a publicly regulated utility. Our power grid is being steadily improved, and our suppliers get their power from many sources. Because oil is only about 4% of the mix in Maine, the electricity market is only slightly effected by the volatile oil market.

Retirees and others on fixed incomes love Geothermal systems, as they provide security against the extreme fluctuations of oil and gas prices. Often the immediate savings will more than pay for the cost to finance a system.

Davis TestimonialJan and I have been very pleased with our system and your work. I often recommend you to folks when asked about our geothermal system. AAttached is our Energy Bill! Check out the savings!

Thank you so much!

30% Tax Credit

30% FEDERAL TAX CREDIT, STATE INCENTIVES AND FINANCING AVAILABLE.

The IRS will GIVE you 30% of the cost of a system as a tax credit. On a $35,000 system, the tax credit is $10,500.00 making the cost to you $24,500.

Maine and other states have financial aid as well.

A STRONG WARRANTY

Our systems have a 10 year factory warranty, the heat pumps have a projected life of 20 years, and the ground loops are projected to last 50 years plus.

INCREASED HOME EQUITY

Geothermal increases home equity. Most homeowners know Central A/C will increase your home's value. Now they are discovering that Geothermal heat and A/C will increase it even more.

In the case of new construction, a modern hot water baseboard system, central air conditioning, and a chimney added together will cost about the same as a Geothermal system. When the tax credit is factored in, the Geothermal system will frequently cost less. Even when comparing a conventional system without A/C, we can often install Geothermal heating and cooling for the same money. However, the residual value of the Geothermal system will be greater because of the long term energy savings. Think about it. If you were considering the purchase of 2 similar houses, and one was thousands of dollars a year cheaper to heat and cool, wouldn't you be more likely to buy it?

COST CERTAINTY

Because of our experience and know how, when Evergreen gives you a quote, we can guarantee you that it won't change unless you change your specifications. We'll put it in writing and you can count on cost certainty when you make your home construction / improvement plans.
